Visa Requirements


Citizens of the United States of America and Canada, of all Schengen States and most other West-European countries, of Australia and New Zealand, of the Russian Federation, as well as those of numerous Asian and African countries do not have to apply for HOLIDAY VISA, prior to their arrival in Namibia.

... each passport holder, after filling in a short, simple application form and some usually quick and uncomplicated checks by the  immigration authorities. (Details on the import of hunting rifles & ammunition are provided under Firearms Regulations.)

The visa will be valid up to the date of the return flight, which has to be stipulated on the air ticket. The maximum stay permitted for holiday visits to Namibia is 3 months.


Business visitors may have to meet visa requirements different from those above, and might like to contact the Namibia Investment Centre prior to arrival - see info box below.

PASSPORT


The foreign visitor's PASSPORT has to be valid for at least 6 months beyond the departure date from Namibia, as per the flight ticket, and to contain at least 2 unused pages in its endorsement section.

This also applies to a child travelling on a Children's Passport.


Foreigners holding Namibian residence permits must have valid re-entry visas when returning to Namibia.


Please check for sufficient passport validity well ahead of your flight to Namibia!

The same regulations apply to visitors arriving in Namibia overland, e.g. via South Africa & Botswana.

Touring Namibia

Namibia Self-drive and guided overland tours, fly-in safaris, chauffeur services ... any kind of touring service to any tourist attraction, is available on a scheduled and tailor-made basis.


Registered air fields are found all over the country, and small aircraft may be hired for self-piloting purposes.


However, train and bus services only exist between some larger towns and only a few of them operate on a daily basis.


Fuel is readily available around the country, and visitors have a wide range of accommodation options to choose from:

In the Swakop River Valley

 
   

farms, and tented camps in rural areas are of good to upmarket quality. The majority is small to medium in size and offer personalised services at reasonable prices, next to a variety of optional excursions and activities.


Overnight facilities in National Parks are provided in rest camps, most of which have additional amenities such as a restaurant, swimming pool, shop, and fuel station.


Self-catering holiday apartments are mostly found in and around Swakopmund, at the central Namibian coast.
